Change/Edit a Signatory

Information about the signatory role for investors, including how to assign or re-assign the signatory role.

How do I know what roles are associated with this subscription?

Each user in Vanilla is assigned one of two roles per subscription:

  • Signatory – Required to review and sign fund documents.

  • Delegate – Can assist with completing the subscription but cannot sign documents.

To view who holds each role:

  • Go to the “Delegates” page in the questionnaire to see all assigned Delegates.

  • Go to the “Signatories” page to see all assigned Signatories.

All listed Signatories must sign the subscription documents. Delegates can assist but are not authorized to sign.


What do I do if I have the Signatory role but I’m not supposed to sign?

You can switch yourself to a Delegate role by following these steps:

  1. Open the subscription questionnaire.

  2. Navigate to the “Manage Delegates” page.

  3. Click “Add Delegate” and enter your own email address (the one currently listed as a Signatory).

  4. Click Save.

  5. When prompted to confirm the role change, click Yes.

You’ll now appear on the Manage Delegates page and will be removed from the Signatories list.


What do I do if I’m a Delegate but need to change the Signatory?

To assign the correct Signatory:

  1. Click “View Subscription” to open the questionnaire.

  2. Go to the “Signatories” page.

  3. Click “Create Signatory” and enter the correct person’s name and email address.

  4. Click Save.

  5. (Optional) Remove the incorrect Signatory by clicking the “Delete” button next to their name.


What if my subscription legally requires two or more Signatories?

If your investment is held as a Joint Individual, Trust, or Entity that requires multiple signatures:

  1. Go to the “Signatories” page in the questionnaire.

  2. Click “Create Signatory” for each required signer.

  3. Ensure each Signatory has a unique email address.

All listed Signatories must sign the documents. Do not add additional Signatories unless legally required.


What if I’m subscribing as an Individual?

For Individual subscriptions:

  • Only one Signatory is allowed.

  • Once a Signatory is added, the Signatories page will disappear from the navigation and cannot be edited.


Editing a Signatory on Your Subscription

  • Once you add a signatory to the platform, their name and email cannot be edited. This is because an account is created for them immediately, or they may already have an existing account.

  • For security reasons, only the account holder can update their own name or email.

What to do if you entered the wrong email:

  • Simply delete the signatory and add them again using the correct email address.

What to do if the name is incorrect:

  • The signatory can update their name from their profile page after logging in to Vanilla.
